Well friends the first week of school is already over and I have to say it was a good week for me. And I suppose before I jump into my post I should take a moment and reintroduce myself, I’m Alex Mobley an Information Technologies student. I was home schooled for 11 years and then came to Ohio Hi-Point for the remainder of high school. While at OHP I’ve joined the Lead Ambassadors, OHP Writing Club and the Journeys Bloggers. I have enjoyed all three and you’ve probably seen my activity from the past week in the videos of students I’ve done.

School started off on Tuesday for the juniors. I decided to start when the juniors did so I could get to know my future classmates and see how they were ajusting to the new school. :) Everyone seemed really excited and eager to talk (As well as get their laptops haha!).  As I went around the different labs and acedemic classrooms I saw teachers were doing team building exercises to try to get the students to know one another. ECE (Early Childhood Education) probably had one of the most interesting ways of doing things. They played a game where they all had to put blind folds on and make various farm animal sounds trying to find the other ‘animals’ in their groups. Very good way of also hightening your attention skills hehe.

Wednesday was the day the students got their laptops and my were they excited. I worked along side the Tech Department staff helping the juniors access their emails and answering  general questions. This went on up to lunch and then I decided to try and squeeze in some chat time with the kids from 5th period lunch before I headed out to my part time job up at Blue Jacket Dairy.

On Thursday there were a bunch of various seminars going on about sexting, how to properly use Microsoft Word, and the computers as well as online communications and how to be wise about your postings. These seminars were most informative for us, myself as well as the juniors.

Friday all of the seniors came back! Oh my was it nice to see everyone again. It felt really good to go to my various classes and see all the faces from last year as well as the new ones from this year. During breakfast I caught up with Mr. Staudter and had some nice chats with various other educators throughout the day. Classes really hadn’t started we were just going over the objectives of the classes and taking a look at the dredded, sound affects please, Senior projects!

And I’m sure I could write you a book on all the things that went on last week but I shan’t do that so with this I bid you adieu!
Until my next posting,
Alex
