Well we (meaning my lab and I) started BPA (Business Professionals of America) projects today. I am working with JT and Zach on a website based on nutrition. BPA projects are what we take to competitions every year.

There are all kinds of projects to choose from, everything from group events to individual competitions. This year I chose to do Human Resources Concepts, Advanced Interviewing Skills and a group web design team. Last year I did a news broadcasting project (team event), Graphic Design and IT Concepts.

I am particularly excited about Advanced Interviewing Skills competition. I really like interviewing with people and last year we had an ‘interview off’ and I placed 2nd among the two labs participating. There’s just something extremely fun about talking to people reviewing your skills and trying to compete for the job.

The competitions are in January and we start at a local level competing with students from our school. If we win local competitions it goes up to a Regional level and we compete with all students from Region 16. If placing in a Regional level it then advances to State and then on to Nationals. It’s really exciting to win and advance. Last year we had several students go to state competitions. I unfortunately didn’t advance but I am really hoping to go this year (:
