If I had to choose another program besides Electronics Engineering to take here at OHP, I would probably pick Professional Turf & Landscaping. I think that program is sweeeeeet. I would get the chance to learn how to build cute little waterfalls and ponds and how to actually keep flowers fresh and pretty haha. I would be outside a lot, which would help me continue being tan. People always want the outside of their house, or job, to be attractive…so learning how to do landscaping would be something I would always use.

My spring break was incredibly busy. I had some fun on the weekends, but during the week I worked almost every day because I got a new job! I now work at a cell phone store. Since I am in Electronics Engineering here at OHP, the boss lady from the store got a hold of Ms. Spain to find two students to work for her. Taylor (fellow blogger) and I both got the job! She was very impressed that we are both familiar with repairing any electronics.
So over Spring Break we had to go to Easton in Columbus to train for our new job. We learnt how to talk to customers, how all the phones work, the plans, and much, much more! I’m so happy I finally have a great job. One that allows me to use the knowledge I have gained at Hi-Point.  Gotta get back to class now.  Toodles!

It’s definitely a flurry February! How are all my Hi-Point fans enjoying this weather? Ha! Well, it is just crazy in the Electronics Engineering program here at OHP lately. Last week we had Women in Engineering Day. It was very successful. In my lab, we had the girls build a robot butterfly. It was super neat to be the one who taught them how to complete their first electronics engineering task. To see their faces when everything worked when they soldered the last piece together. Very cool, very cool :)
We have so many competitions coming up in my lab. I’ve been building my slot car for the one competition at Rhodes State that’s coming up next month. I’m for sure going to make mine stand out. I’ve been putting a little “Mikki” in it haha. Mine is all dazzled with jewels and glitter. I can’t wait for my instructor to see how mine has turned out haha. He will be shocked!
Another competition that’s coming up soon is the NRC- National Robotics Challenge. In this competition, my two partners and I have to program a Lego Mind storms robot, to complete task for the Agbot challenge. Then we are all doing our senior projects and getting ready for Skills USA in May! So much to do, so little time. At least I’m keeping busy my senior year :)   -peace fans!

Helllooooo everyone!!! I’m here to give you another blog from the mind of Taylor. 2010 has started off great. In my CP English 12 class we just got done reading Shakespeare’s Macbeth. At first I thought this was going to be just another Shakespeare story that would put me asleep. It is about a man who kills a king to become king, but he ends up destroying himself in his own way. I will not ruin it for you if you have to or want to read it sometime. I was wrong it was actually a very good story.
In my physics class we have been building trebuchets/catapults for a competition.  As you can tell I have been very busy, but it is a fun busy.
In my lab we have been learning more about computers. Mikki (fellow blogger), my friend Jessica, and myself had to take apart a computer and put it back together, and that was fun. I have so much to tell you but so little time, so I guess I will say TTFN.

This past week my lab had a “Women in Technology and Engineering” event. This was with girls from local schools interested in Information Technology. We had 10 girls show up and they went to different sessions for the whole day. Several labs participated in it, including Information technology, Electronics Engineering, and Architectural and Mechanical Design. There were also some women teachers that participated as well. There was a movie dealing with different IT fields, and a crime scene investigation including testing (fake) blood and urine to find out who was guilty of the crime. It was really fun to show girls that females can do just as good as a job as a male can!

Hey Hey Heyyy!   There are oh so many reasons why students should choose to come to Ohio Hi-Point. I don’t even know where to start! The biggest reason, I believe, is that you can earn a lot of college credits here at OHP. Who would turn down free college credits? Seriously!  Another reason is that OHP is so not boring.  I’ve said this so many times, but at OHP no day is typical. Every day is new and exciting. There are so many field trips, competitions, and college visits here.  You will never be bored here at Ohio Hi-Point. You meet new people from all the other schools every day! Coming to our career center builds you up as a person and really does create a great path to your future!

Hey my followers. This week has sure been a busy one. We have been preparing for Sophomore Career Days (which started today!). This is for all you sophomores to see what you would be doing in a lab here at OHP. My lab has a lot of things to show you on Thursday or Friday, depending on what day you come. We have a video game program that a student programmed. You may ask what is it and the answer is: I can’t tell you unless you come and see it, which you can also do during next week’s Taste of the Future Open House.
We also have a working robot arm that will pick up blocks and put them into different buckets, and this will be operated by Clay and Jessica. You also will get to see a cool networking show from Phil and Braden. Sadly, I will not be there to see you all enjoy this.  I will be at Skills USA’s fall leadership camp. So hopefully I come back as a better leader. I will get to see you people on November 19 at the Taste of the Future!

Hello everybody. It’s me again here to give you another blog. Anyway, coming to Hi-Point has really made me think about what I want to do with my future. In my lab we focus a lot on computers, programming, designing different electronic circuits. This has helped me to finally figure out what I want to do! I feel that college is not the choice for me right now. But I do believe I can start my own business. In what? Digital media is what that career is.  What this is pretty much is entertainment electronics. I hope to get into the movie aspect of this.  I have even started my company by making a few short vids. Hope I can get into the Sundance Film Festival sometime soon!  That is a competition where independent filmmakers come together to show their movies.

YO!  What is up? It feels like forever since the last blog I’ve written! School has been extremely busy, like usual. The grading period is almost to an end and I just got a job, woot! So I’m trying to keep all my grades their absolute highest, while doing my best working. I hope all of your guys’ school year is going as smooth as mine!  On top of keeping up with all the new activities (so many activities! aha) in lab, I’ve had a ton of college meetings. I’m certain that I am going to college. I’m not exactly sure where or even what my major will be, but I’m going. I have thought super hard about joining the Air Force and becoming an Engineer.  I might go to OSU for undecided engineering or go out on a limb and move to New York for journalism, because I totally dig writing, and I would love to improve my sweet skill. So many choices!  I have a couple more months to get my brain together and decide, and I’ll let the right decision come to me.  The reason I am for sure going to college is because if I don’t, I will feel that I wasted my time at Ohio Hi-Point. Being a student at OHP, I’ve earned a lot of college credits. I have made a huge head start in my future and I don’t want to regret not fulfilling my dreams and goals. Have a happy Halloween fans! I’m out! Toodles!

Holla, fans! Why did I choose Ohio Hi-Point Career Center? Wow! The biggest reason I chose OHP is because I needed a fresh start. I wanted out of the normal, typical high school. I wanted to give my future a head start and the “college” atmosphere excited me. What I love about being a student at Ohio Hi-Point is that I’m just not another “number” like at a high school (I am not dissing high school). At OHP I am important to this school.  They need me in my program. Every day I have new challenges that I have to complete. I am a woman in engineering, and everyone respects that.  There is no typical day at the career center. Every day is a new adventure. And I love it!

Hey, I’m back everybody. Here to talk to you again. The beginning of school has reminded me about a lot of things. I remember when I decided to come to Hi-Point. It wasn’t a tough decision on coming here. I knew I wanted to do something, but I didn’t know what I wanted my career to be. So I thought Hi-Point would help me to figure it out. I started looking at Culinary Arts at first, but when I thought about it, it wasn’t really the choice for me. Then I went to Animal Management, and again wasn’t really for me. Then I went to Electronics Engineering, which was a great choice for me.  I knew that it was because I was really interested in working on electronic things and figuring out how they worked. I knew, though, that I only had a basic knowledge of it.  And now with the help of Mr. Kouse I have improved my understanding of electronics, and now I’m looking for a career in digital media.
