Hey Hey! What’s goin’ on Hi-Point fans? Hope all is well your way ☺ I am in an incredible mood! I FINALLY finished my senior project in my lab. I seriously have so much stress off me now! My project was a beauty box. The thesis statement on my research paper was “Engineering and electronics benefit the 21st century woman’s goal of looking beautiful.” I had to prove my point, so I made a beauty box. This box is magical! It holds my straightener, my curling iron, my hair dryer, and all the other accessories that I have to use on myself in the morning while getting ready. Of course I added diamonds and glitter…and painted it purple… It just wouldn’t be “Mikki” without it : ) Sweet, huh? Yeah!
So it feels as if I haven’t blogged, in like, forever. So much has been going on at OHP. Two weeks ago, I went to the SkillsUSA competition. I competed in the video product competition. I talked about how career-technical schools benefit our community, and our students. I didn’t place, but it was the first time I have ever done anything with video, so that’s my excuse, lol. I had sooo much fun at Skills, though. We stayed in an awesome hotel, we swam, and went to a dance ☺ The best thing about Skills was when these rapper dudes sang a song titled “New Sneakers.” Five other kids and I, out of like 1000 people were the only ones who enjoyed this song. They wanted everyone in the audience to stand up and take their right shoe off and put it in the air. So we stood up and fist pumped with our shoes. Talk about fun, son! Gladly, I’m one who loves attention, so I was happy all eyes were on me ![]()
Sad sad story… I gave my last tours last week ☹ It was the final time I will ever be able to talk to students about how great OHP is, and show them around the school. So I made sure they enjoyed their tour…and was able to teach the lovely Mercedes (other lead ambassador) how to give a fabulous tour, so that she’s ready for next year without us seniors. : ) Everything is coming to an end for my senior year. I graduate in a month! I do keep this quote in my head, though, “Graduation is not the end, it’s the beginning.” I like that, it’s perfect. Bell just rang, so I will talk to you next week! Ta ta for now!

As the year starts to draw to an end there are a lot of things going on. Finally, last week, we finished our senior projects, which I just happened to rock, and that was a giant weight lifted off of my chest. Then the very next day we were rewarded with a trip to Kings Island for the math and science day through my college math class. Every time we get past a task like the senior project or go on a trip like Kings Island it signifies a step-by-step process that is getting us to the end of the year, and that brings a giant mixture of emotions.
I’m excited to graduate and get to go to college, but at the same time I’m thinking where did my last twelve years of school go, how did graduation come so fast, and I just wonder and hope that I can make it in the college life. So I would appreciate all of your best wishes and any of the good luck that you can spare, so until next time, stay real.
Dang! It’s been awhile since I actually wrote something for you guys! I can’t believe March is here, time is most certainly flying by, and I have plenty to keep me busy. Usually all I have to say about Ohio Hi-Point is always positive. But recently I’ve been asked “What don’t you like about Hi-Point?” And in all honesty, I had to sit and think about this for a while.
I’ve never thought about what I don’t like about Hi-Point, but what I love the most about it. The only downfall to Hi-Point that I could seriously come up with was our Senior Projects. When it comes close to the end of the year this is the one thing that will stress me out. For the Honors English class we had to write a ten to twelve page paper, and have a presentation for professionals in our field by April. The students pick a topic related to their field to write and do the presentation over. I’m currently still working on my product for my presentation.
But other than that there isn’t anything that I can complain about OHP. I love my academics, and especially my lab.
Well, I hope everyone is doing well and is being safe in this weather we’ve been having lately. Thanks for reading!
Hey guys I’m back!! I seems like it’s been forever since my last blog! We have been working hard on all sorts of things at Hi-Point. It’s mainly the time of year where we are focusing on our senior projects. My senior project is creating the website for Logan County Family and Children’s First Council. I am doing this with the help of my lab teacher and our IT teacher, Ms. Blackburn.
I started out with having to install a program on their host that would allow them to easily update their content once I was through. Then moved on to finding a template that did just what they needed at the time. Then moved on to adding their pictures and all their content. I have met with them several times since so we can check on progress and discuss whether they want any changes. Recently they have decided that the original template they didn’t like so I am in the progress of finding a new one. Templates can be extremely hard to work with because you can only change certain things. These changes may not always be something you want to change. They cause problems such as not being able to change something. I am still working out the bugs.
Overall senior projects are a big part of our senior year at Hi-Point. It is a graduation requirement that helps you show off what you really learned. Every lab does it different though. At the end of the year I get to present mine to judges to be graded. Wish me luck! It’s been really something working on this project. It has made me think about whether I really want to do web design or not in college.
It’s been forever since I blogged and senior year is flying by!! Before we graduate we have to present a senior project to a panel of judges. Our senior project is a paper that we have to write about something that interests us that has to deal with our lab. After writing the senior paper in English class, we have to make up a presentation about our topic to present to the judges.
I’m in cosmetology, so I decided to do my senior project on diversion of products because that is a big thing that is going on now. When people think of hair products they usually decide to purchase what’s more convenient to them. Have you ever seen the Big and Sexy Line at your hometown Wal-Mart? Diversion is getting so bad that they’re selling salon products at drugstores, etc. The reasons these products are salon products are because they are suppose to be sold in SALONS. When buying products at a salon you get the knowledge from the stylist and when you buy it from Wal-Mart or anywhere else it is usually diverted and could have been tampered with or old which makes the product not work to its potential or how it should.
I chose this topic to show people that it isn’t good to get hair products at your convenience store, but to purchase these products at a salon where you get the education about what your putting in your hair. This project wasn’t difficult because I picked a topic that I was interested in and that I wanted to learn more about. OHP makes us do senior projects to show that we are able to do a research project and present something to a group of people that we will have to do maybe later on in our life after we graduate.
Dang, I can’t believe Christmas break is just next week! Time is flying by, and another year is around the corner. There are many, many things that I have to be doing this coming year. I have many goals to accomplish in a short amount of time. One of the first goals of mine bringing in the new year is to take, and do well on the ACT. Yeah, yeah I know, I should’ve taken them a long time ago.
Another goal is to keep my GPA up as high as possible. I’ve found it harder this year to keep up my grades with the many responsibilities I hold. I also want to do well on my Senior Project and graduate high school with honors. College and getting scholarships are also a huge goal of mine. I recently got accepted into one of the colleges that I was looking into, and now it’s time to get the ball rolling with scholarship forms. Wow. It’s a lot to handle in one year. But I’m more prepared than ever to do what needs to be done. I hope everyone has a nice, and safe holiday.
Bring on the New Year!!!! That’s the way I feel about the new year coming up. I know it’s going to be busy and hard, but I’m as ready as I’m ever going to be. When we first come back from break the first thing we do is start studying for our exams, only to take them all the very next week. Starting with the exams ought to be an interesting way to “ease” back into learning after the break.
My goals for the new year are to keep doing what I’ve been doing. I plan on keeping my grades up and continuing to study while balancing my work schedule on top of it all. One of the first things I need to do is decide where I’d like to go to college at since there’s just so many places to choose from it’s hard to decide which one would be the best for me.
I also need to start thinking seriously about my senior project. My thoughts about it are the sooner the better. The sooner I can get it finished the better it will be for me. I’m going to try and not let it sneak up on me. So this is what I plan on doing in the new year but as I’m sure you all know hardly anything ever goes as planned, so all I can do is prepare myself to take on whatever comes my way. Thanks for your time and MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL AND TO ALL A GOODNIGHT!!!!!!
This school year has started out better than I imagined. I got ahead and have started on my senior project for Logan County Family and Children’s First Council, though I am stuck for the moment. Overall everything has gone well. I have gotten student of the month for this month. Just like one would at a home school. The other student and I went with Mr. Staudter (High School Director) to Kiwanis just last week to get recognized. It was a lot of fun. We even got certificates to put in our career passports. We also got to attend a Board Meeting to be recognized. This was a lot of fun also.
School has been flying by so far. We are already into senior projects! We have been doing a lot with OGT (Ohio Graduation Test) week going on here. I have been working on getting my research paper done for English. This week is catch-up week for most students since the nine-weeks is about to end, which is really hard to believe. It doesn’t seem like it’s been that long.
The new students are always something to get used to at the beginning of the year. I am in a lab where we have one-year students along with my classes. The juniors can be shy at first, but as soon as you find common ground with those you don’t know you become friends. Most juniors are just as shy as you are, though once you start talking you become instant friends. There are several in my lab I have made friends with already this year and we haven’t made it through a quarter yet. I’m excited that I can make more new friends and hopefully will have more to come by the end of the year!
I have started on my senior project slightly. I am doing a website for a company. A few weeks ago I met with the company so we could talk about the many things they wanted their website to do for them. Now I am working with the site and installing an application called Joomla so they can update the site themselves when I am completely finished. So far it’s been a great year!! I hope it only gets better.
Hey guys and gals. I’m back again to bring you an amazing blog. These first few weeks have been going pretty great. I’ve been making a lot of new friends this year. You would think that would happen with so many students coming in this year. I have been able to see a lot of friends that I made last year, too, which has been AWESOME!
It’s been very different this being in my second year at Hi-Point. Now I have all my academics in the morning, and that’s a big change right now. I’ve begun working on my senior project this year. Right now, I’m mostly in the planning stages.
Another change is that I have my lab in the afternoon. I like this so much because it seems like for the last two and a half hours I get to learn my trade and really focus on that. I hope to have some pictures and videos up this week., so I will TTYL!
