Hello, so I just wanted to sum up all I have done my junior year.  I started out doing hand drawings in my class which was a lot of fun.   I learned the basic skill of drawing lines and why its important to keep your line type the same.  We then started learning AutoCAD.  We spent a lot of time learning the program and also doing work out of the work book.  Around the same time I was learning the program I was elected to be the junior president of AMD 1.
Also I had an interview to be a lead ambassador.  I was picked to be a lead ambassador and was soon out to schools to recruit.  After becoming a lead ambassador I then got a email asking students to go to a Skills USA conference down at the Ohio State Fair.  I got the privilege to go to this as well.  We spent two days down in Columbus and I had a blast and look forward to going to this next year.
Around this time in lab we started designing and building bridges for the Rhodes State contest.  We also had to build a tower to try to get it the tallest in 30 min.  I took first in bridges and took third in towers.  After the bridges and towers we then began to work on architecture and the mechanical side worked on drawings.
I got an email from Mrs.Spain asking if I would like to be a blogger.  I immediately replied yes and asked what I had to do to become one.
So now you know what my junior year is all about.  I became a blogger, a lead ambassador and Skills USA president of the junior class of AMD.  To all of the students that are coming up next year I suggest you take every opportunity Ohio Hi-Point gives you.  Make the last two years of your high school career two years to remember.  I guarantee that I am always going to remember that I was part of Hi-Point Journeys.

Hey everyone!! So in lab (Architectural & Mechanical Design) last week we were given a challenge to make a sleeping area that has three bedrooms, two bathrooms and it all had to be 550 square feet.  The catch of this project is that the master bedroom must have an attached bathroom and his-and-her closets.  This was a nice challenge to get used to small floor plans.
Also last week I started up Spring rehersals for drumline at my home school, Marysville.  This year’s show is going to be amazing with some new people in drumline.  I will keep you updated on what we are doing in my lab and in band.  Also keep watching for a new video on YouTube from my lab instructor.  Til the next time I blog, I wish you a great week!!

urbana3Yesterday some fellow lead ambassadors and I went to Urbana University.  We were there to show some freshmen in Champaign County what Ohio Hi-Point is all about.  We started at 8 am, and when the freshmen came to our booth we told them about how many college credits they can earn, what programs we offer, and of course, how much fun it is to be there.
Some of the schools we saw were Urbana, Graham, Mechanicsburg and West Liberty-Salem.  We took tons of video and pictures throughout the day.  If you would like to check them out they are on Flickr and the Facebook page and will be on our YouTube Channel later this week.  If you are an incoming junior next year, I suggest you become a lead ambassador.  It is a lot of fun and you get to meet so many people.  Keep reading the blogs! I will talk to you later. Bye!

Today was a BIG day! I went to a meeting for the Alumni and Friends Association!  I am a student representative.  We started out introducing everyone on the board and talked about what our jobs are on the board.  We then came up with some cool ideas for students that would help raise money for the scholarships that the Alumni and Friends provide.  Some of the ideas would be customizable shirts and skins for your laptop.  All the Hi-Point students might want to keep your eyes and ears open for these things to come up next year.
We also talked about selling raffle tickets for a set of two tickets to a Buckeye game in the fall of next year.  Tickets will go on sale next school year for the Purdue vs. Ohio State Game.  We then went into nominations for a new vice president, treasurer and board members.  After nominating all the new positions we moved forward to talk about some of the ways we can connect with more alumni.  The whole experience I had in this meeting was amazing.  I as a student representative am proud to serve the student body and come up with ideas that would interest the students and help out the Alumni and Friends Association!  Till the next time, my fellow readers!

Hi guys, so have you ever had to take notes and you got behind?  Have you ever forgot a pencil and you couldn’t take notes because of it?  At Hi-Point all of us have laptop computers.  Not only do we use the computers in lab to do our lab work, but we also use them in academic classes, as well.  In academic classes we read the books, take notes and e-mail assignments.  We use these computers almost every day in class.  The teacher puts the notes on the projector and we type them up.  No more carrying around heavy textbooks that weigh your book bag down.  Your laptop is used to learn everything.

This year has been one of the best years in school I have ever had.  When I came to Hi-Point I had hands-on help and got to talk one-on-one to my lab instructor and my teachers.  My first day of lab was just like any other first day of school because nobody really knew each other and we were all quiet.  That soon changed because we had some fun activities we did together.  We started right away with hands-on learning and had some fun with it.  Through the year we got more and more activities to work hands-on.
Just this past month our lab went to a contest at Rhodes State for tallest tower and bridge contest.  I took first in bridges, which had to hold 20 lbs for one minute and be made out of manila folders and Elmer’s glue.  Mine held and was the lightest and took first place.  The tallest tower was to be made out of manila folders and scotch tape.  Mine stood at 7’ 4”.  This was my first year doing anything like this in school, and I had a blast! I still have the rest of this year and next year I can’t wait to see what happens next! Till the next time, bye!
