This school year has started out better than I imagined. I got ahead and have started on my senior project for Logan County Family and Children’s First Council, though I am stuck for the moment. Overall everything has gone well. I have gotten student of the month for this month. Just like one would at a home school. The other student and I went with Mr. Staudter (High School Director) to Kiwanis just last week to get recognized.  It was a lot of fun. We even got certificates to put in our career passports. We also got to attend a Board Meeting to be recognized. This was a lot of fun also.

School has been flying by so far. We are already into senior projects! We have been doing a lot with OGT (Ohio Graduation Test) week going on here. I have been working on getting my research paper done for English. This week is catch-up week for most students since the nine-weeks is about to end, which is really hard to believe. It doesn’t seem like it’s been that long.

This year seems like its flying by. I keep getting asked, “What are your plans after high school?” “What do you want to do with your life?”
By coming to Hi-Point I’m going to be to able to graduate with my cosmetology license and still go to college. My plan at the beginning of the year was after graduating going to a big salon such as Charles Penzone or Kenneth’s. After going and visiting my cousin at Kenneth’s she shared with me that if you decide to work there you aren’t able to go to college because you have to go through a system of training to get into Kenneth’s and that is a six-day job where there would be no time to go to college. So right now I’m trying to figure out if I want to commute to a college and work in my home town or go to a community college and work there. Decisions, decisions. My advice is to go on college visits your junior year and try to figure what you want to do for the rest of your life that you will love so you aren’t cramming at the last minute to get everything figured out!

Hello everybody. It’s me again here to give you another blog. Anyway, coming to Hi-Point has really made me think about what I want to do with my future. In my lab we focus a lot on computers, programming, designing different electronic circuits. This has helped me to finally figure out what I want to do! I feel that college is not the choice for me right now. But I do believe I can start my own business. In what? Digital media is what that career is.  What this is pretty much is entertainment electronics. I hope to get into the movie aspect of this.  I have even started my company by making a few short vids. Hope I can get into the Sundance Film Festival sometime soon!  That is a competition where independent filmmakers come together to show their movies.

My plans after high school are to head off to college. My plans now are to attend a two-year school and get my Associate’s Degree, and then transfer to another school and go for two more years and get my Bachelor’s Degree. I think it would be better to go to college and get my degree, and I say this because I could go straight to work and start right off making money, but if I go to college I think I should be able to make more money and have a better career in the long run. I’m hoping my decisions will work out for me and it will all be a good decision in the end.

The most famous question you get asked your senior year: What are your plans when you get out of high school? It is getting time where I need to be deciding the answer to this question. I’m considering a couple different options. The first option I am looking into is going to a two-year college for business or spa management. I also plan to work in a salon part time while I am doing this. I am considering this option so that I always have something to fall back on. Business is something that is a plus in all careers. Also, if I want to own my own salon someday I will be able to have that experience under my belt. Another option I have been looking into is working at a bigger salon such as Kenneth Beauty Academy. This will help me to get further training in the cosmetology field and help to build up my cliental.

YO!  What is up? It feels like forever since the last blog I’ve written! School has been extremely busy, like usual. The grading period is almost to an end and I just got a job, woot! So I’m trying to keep all my grades their absolute highest, while doing my best working. I hope all of your guys’ school year is going as smooth as mine!  On top of keeping up with all the new activities (so many activities! aha) in lab, I’ve had a ton of college meetings. I’m certain that I am going to college. I’m not exactly sure where or even what my major will be, but I’m going. I have thought super hard about joining the Air Force and becoming an Engineer.  I might go to OSU for undecided engineering or go out on a limb and move to New York for journalism, because I totally dig writing, and I would love to improve my sweet skill. So many choices!  I have a couple more months to get my brain together and decide, and I’ll let the right decision come to me.  The reason I am for sure going to college is because if I don’t, I will feel that I wasted my time at Ohio Hi-Point. Being a student at OHP, I’ve earned a lot of college credits. I have made a huge head start in my future and I don’t want to regret not fulfilling my dreams and goals. Have a happy Halloween fans! I once had plans to go to college, but then came the recession! I feel that since I graduate with my license in cosmetology, and since it’s basically what I want to do for the rest of my life, I’m going to pursue that first! I want to move around a lot and see the world! My dream is to live many places making my living doing hair on-stage and off! I want to get a taste of everything! Maybe someday when our government money situation gets a little better, I’ll go back to school for massage.  I just feel that I should take advantage of what Hi-Point has given me and start working ASAP! Jobs are tough to come by now-a-days, and I know that I have a job waiting on me now at Trade Winds Day Spa here in Bellefontaine. Jackie Smith (owner) is a great woman and has already taught me a lot just while I go visit mom at work. Also my dad just moved to Mississippi because he was having trouble finding a HVAC job around here. He got a job in the Hard Rock Casino! He says it’s really sweet, and that they have a day spa in the casino that has my name all over it! Moving to Mississippi wasn’t on my agenda, BUT IT IS NOW!!!

I’m sure that no matter where I go in life, I will always come back home and remember what school gave me this GREAT opportunity! THANK YOU HI-POINT!!!!

So far senior year is going great. The emailing system here at Hi-Point has really helped out a lot to keep in touch with my home school.  In fact, the other day I had received an exciting letter and email for my academic banquet.  My 4.0 GPA last year allowed me to receive my academic letter, “K,” that will go on my varsity jacket this year.  Here recently we ordered our graduation stuff, although my home school, Kenton, was one of the schools that didn’t order through Hi- Point.  Thankfully, our guidance counselor was able to email us that we needed to stop and order.  Even though I go to Hi-Point full day, Kenton students were released early last Friday for our pep rally.  That’s something I look forward to every year, and I’m glad that we’re still a part of that.
I work part-time at a pizza shop throughout the week.  It’s usually only four days a week, and my manager tries his best to make three of those days to be Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, so I don’t fall back in any of my classes, which helps extremely.  I appreciate having a job that understands going to school, and work is stressful.  This year has felt a little rushed, I’m balancing everything, but there are days when I feel behind, when I’m actually not.

I have been super busy with school and homework while also playing volleyball at my home school, Benjamin Logan. Although our season is coming to an end, this Thursday night is senior night, and we start tournaments next week.
The start of school has went by really fast seeing that these are my last few times playing volleyball, and its super sad because I have grown up playing sports my whole life and after graduating I don’t plan on playing in college.
Next I will start basketball, which will be here and be gone before we all know it. When people say your senior year flies by it really does! Handling sports and school has become easy for me because I have been doing it for a long time. It really hasn’t been any different with coming to OHP because we usually have class time to do all our bookwork. Although I don’t work, playing sports is my job because after school I go straight to practices or games and then get home and do my homework, which is what each day consists of.
After graduating I’m not going to know what to do with myself because I won’t be in a gym or out on the field. Playing sports has made me become a leader and grow as an individual to learn how to work as a team. I hope by sharing my experience with you, you can learn a little more about me and my journey here, and know that you can still attend here and play SPORTS!!!

Hey what’s up my followers?! Many people feel that you’ll lose your social life when you come to Hi-Point. They say you’ll never see your friends from your home school at all. Well, those people are totally wrong! Not only do you see these people, but you make new friends, too.

You have a lot of communication with your home school, too. I go to Bellefontaine (if you read my bio you would know that lol). Anyway, with the use of my handy dandy email I can stay in contact with all my home school activities. Jere Daniels is nice enough to send me the morning announcements from Bellefontaine every day. If that isn’t nice enough, at Hi-Point they will let us go to our home school to have pep rallies. My friends Bobby, Dylan and Clay have football practice everyday, and the school lets them leave a little early if they have an early practice or an activity they need to get to.
