Hey guys I’m back!! I seems like it’s been forever since my last blog! We have been working hard on all sorts of things at Hi-Point. It’s mainly the time of year where we are focusing on our senior projects. My senior project is creating the website for Logan County Family and Children’s First Council. I am doing this with the help of my lab teacher and our IT teacher, Ms. Blackburn.

I started out with having to install a program on their host that would allow them to easily update their content once I was through. Then moved on to finding a template that did just what they needed at the time. Then moved on to adding their pictures and all their content. I have met with them several times since so we can check on progress and discuss whether they want any changes. Recently they have decided that the original template they didn’t like so I am in the progress of finding a new one. Templates can be extremely hard to work with because you can only change certain things. These changes may not always be something you want to change. They cause problems such as not being able to change something. I am still working out the bugs.

Overall senior projects are a big part of our senior year at Hi-Point. It is a graduation requirement that helps you show off what you really learned. Every lab does it different though. At the end of the year I get to present mine to judges to be graded. Wish me luck! It’s been really something working on this project. It has made me think about whether I really want to do web design or not in college.

It’s been forever since I blogged and senior year is flying by!! Before we graduate we have to present a senior project to a panel of judges. Our senior project is a paper that we have to write about something that interests us that has to deal with our lab. After writing the senior paper in English class, we have to make up a presentation about our topic to present to the judges.
I’m in cosmetology, so I decided to do my senior project on diversion of products because that is a big thing that is going on now. When people think of hair products they usually decide to purchase what’s more convenient to them. Have you ever seen the Big and Sexy Line at your hometown Wal-Mart? Diversion is getting so bad that they’re selling salon products at drugstores, etc. The reasons these products are salon products are because they are suppose to be sold in SALONS. When buying products at a salon you get the knowledge from the stylist and when you buy it from Wal-Mart or anywhere else it is usually diverted and could have been tampered with or old which makes the product not work to its potential or how it should.
I chose this topic to show people that it isn’t good to get hair products at your convenience store, but to purchase these products at a salon where you get the education about what your putting in your hair. This project wasn’t difficult because I picked a topic that I was interested in and that I wanted to learn more about. OHP makes us do senior projects to show that we are able to do a research project and present something to a group of people that we will have to do maybe later on in our life after we graduate.

It feels weird getting back into writing blogs once again! Christmas break helped a lot with the senioritis that I’ve been feeling here lately.
I counted down today, and there is officially, 17 weeks of high school left!  I can’t believe how far I’ve come, and what I’ve accomplished.  I’ve been thinking a lot about Convocation here at Hi-Point.  I’m really going to miss all the teachers and friends that I’ve made in the last two years.  Hi-Point was one of the best decisions I’ve made.  Looking back now, I wouldn’t change a thing.  I’ve got a huge head start on my career path, and I thank everyone in my life that has pushed me.
Here lately I’ve gotten really excited about college! I feel OHP has prepared me for the best, and I feel I’m as prepared as I could possibly be, thanks to this school   I suggest to the parents and students that follow our bloggers, to really give Hi-Point a chance.  It certainly helped and prepared me for the long run.
Since it’s January, we just started a new semester.  In lab, we’re preparing to become Patient Care Technicians. How great is that? I can’t wait to see what academics have to offer in the next few months.  Class of 2010 is so close to graduation! It’s pretty obvious what’s been on my mind lately!

Hey guys!! Wow is all I have to say! There has been so much going on… It’s crazy! We have just started our second semester. All of my classes are the same except I am now in personal finance. I’m so excited for this half of the year! It is so close to graduation and only a couple months away from getting my cosmetology license! I have been doing the School-to-Work program, which means I am working in a salon two out of the five days of the week! It really makes me excited to be in the cosmetology field and helps with hands-on experience. I assist my boss along with the other stylist in the salon. I do anything from pedicures and manicures to color and cutting. It really gives me a chance to gather all the information that I can before being on my own.
In lab, we have been doing review for state boards! We had exams last week, and it was a practice out-of-state board exam. It really helped me to feel more comfortable with the idea of going very soon. Practicing the services gave me the confidence and secure feeling that every person needs when they go. I also think that it is very important not to have too much confidence and be well prepared for any situation you might have to face. Sadly, we are almost to that point. We wait on it to come for so long, and now that it has arrived, it is very sad. The people and the memories are something that will stick with me for life. I will never regret my decision to come to OHP and will carry the skills that I have learned with me forever. But we aren’t quite to the end yet, so I am determined to make this last half of my senior year the best yet!!!=)

New Year, New Outlook, New Goals! Boy, oh, boy has it been awhile! It’s nice to finally be able to write to you guys again. This year is going to be a big one,  and I can’t believe this is the last year I will ever spend in high school.
My goals this year are high, but my ambition as of right now is very low. I need to choose the college that I want to attend, and I need to start filling out applications all while staying on task with my schoolwork and continuing to keep my grades up.
I have also set some personal goals for myself, simple things such as eating healthier (maybe not so much fast food) and not being such a procrastinator. Working on my outlook is going to be the hard part of the new year.  I need to have a better outlook on school. Right now when I wake up every morning all I think about is how boring school is and how much I dread going. Kids (myself included) never seem to look on the bright side and see what an opportunity school is and what a great future it sets up for us, so one of my big goals for this year is to see the positives in school and not just the negatives as the year winds down. Hopefully I can attain my goals and finish out my graduating year with huge success and not crash and burn as the year winds down. Until next time!

I’M BACK! Yes, it is I, Taylor, back to give you my blog. This is the new year, which means new goals for everyone. This year I’m going to come out blazing. You know why? It’s because it’s 2010, and I’m finally 18! Whooo * Bells and whistles*! However, that doesn’t mean I get to slack off. It really means I have to apply myself even more because now I’m considered a man, which means me slacking is not a very good idea. If I do that can mean me losing out on the many opportunities that are before me, and I do not want those to leave my sight. I believe this year will be a great year because I get to graduate . I hope this year can be better than last. So with that I say TTYL.

We all dream of being someone else, to ride a new wave, to be reborn, to start ALL over again. 2010 is my year of promise. I will see that it’s remarkable!   The year 2010 holds so much for me. I will graduate this year, I will turn 18, and I will begin college in 2010! This year, I have to actually grow up. I’m expected to go above and beyond, and it scares me to death. I just wanna be a little kid again!  But that’s not gonna happen, so I have to overcome my fear. Some of my goals for this year are to stay motivated and not be tardy. Because if you know me at all, you know it’s pretty difficult for me to be on time!
