Hello, so I just wanted to sum up all I have done my junior year.  I started out doing hand drawings in my class which was a lot of fun.   I learned the basic skill of drawing lines and why its important to keep your line type the same.  We then started learning AutoCAD.  We spent a lot of time learning the program and also doing work out of the work book.  Around the same time I was learning the program I was elected to be the junior president of AMD 1.
Also I had an interview to be a lead ambassador.  I was picked to be a lead ambassador and was soon out to schools to recruit.  After becoming a lead ambassador I then got a email asking students to go to a Skills USA conference down at the Ohio State Fair.  I got the privilege to go to this as well.  We spent two days down in Columbus and I had a blast and look forward to going to this next year.
Around this time in lab we started designing and building bridges for the Rhodes State contest.  We also had to build a tower to try to get it the tallest in 30 min.  I took first in bridges and took third in towers.  After the bridges and towers we then began to work on architecture and the mechanical side worked on drawings.
I got an email from Mrs.Spain asking if I would like to be a blogger.  I immediately replied yes and asked what I had to do to become one.
So now you know what my junior year is all about.  I became a blogger, a lead ambassador and Skills USA president of the junior class of AMD.  To all of the students that are coming up next year I suggest you take every opportunity Ohio Hi-Point gives you.  Make the last two years of your high school career two years to remember.  I guarantee that I am always going to remember that I was part of Hi-Point Journeys.

Ohio Hi-Point has been a good experience for me thus far because it allows me an opportunity to learn differently than I would at my home school. In our classrooms we get hands-on learning, and are able to actually put what we learn into practice. It’s preparing me for a career, so I don’t feel like I’m wasting time with something I will never use. One of the things I love about my lab in particular is that I can explore different aspects of something that I’m interested in (technology), and kind of decide from there where my talents fit best into that broad field. For me, it’s combining communication, technology, and art to get Digital Media. But not only do I get the opportunity to decide that before I get to college (so I don’t have to switch my major 6 times to figure out what I like), but the other benefit is that I’m getting credits in other areas of technology that might count toward my general education electives requirements in college, and I’m also getting certifications that can help me in the future to secure a job until that perfect opportunity for a job I’d like to keep until I retire comes along.

Wow, oh, wow!  -It’s May already? As we draw closer to the end of this school year, and GRADUATION the more excited I get! I can’t wait to walk down that hill here at Ohio Hi-Point.  Convocation is just around the corner!  I can still remember my oldest sister Tara’s graduation/ convocation just like it was yesterday, and the feeling I had that one day this would be me, and that was back in 2004. My older brother Matt’s convocation was just a few years back in 2008, which made me that much closer and excited!
Everyone has told me since I started high school that the years would fly by, and I was like “yea right,” but now I realize that they were all right because it has really flown by! I can really say that I can’t wait to be out of school, but at the same time I know I will miss it. Everyone has also told me that I will miss high school and wish I still was in school, and I do not doubt them on this!
Hi-Point has given me so much, that when I look back on it now I am seriously wowed!  I have gained so many new friends that I probably would have never met if I hadn’t come. I was privileged enough to be a lead ambassador for both years, which has really helped improve my leadership skills. I was also one of the first groups of Hi-Point Journey bloggers, which has been a great experience! All of our readers get told first-hand how life is here at Hi-Point and that can really give you the inside scoop on what is happening and  what to be ready for and to look forward to! Mr. H. has really spoiled us with our FlipCams and digital cameras, and the luncheons at Bob Evans and Tumbleweed!  Not to mention our boost in popularity! Hah! I feel like everyone knows who I am, and I’m still meeting new people who seem to already know me, because they read my blogs! –So thank you!
I actually feel like I mean something to Hi-Point!  The staff here does their best to make your last two years great!  I would like to thank all of my teachers that had the privilege of having me in class and putting up with me! I’ll remember each of you forever!

Hello Everyone!
I hope you all had a wonderful spring break an enjoyed the nice sunny weather! Hopefully this weather will keep up! Most people like to travel to Southern states for Spring Break, while others like to just stay home, relax, and get a lot of extra rest!
Over spring break, I went down to visit my brother in Cincinnati to watch him play baseball games in Kentucky. It was nice to get to spend quality time with my family. Until next time, Enjoy the nice weather, and be safe!

Hey! As you know, my name is Olivia, and I am currently a junior at Ohio Hi-Point. I am in the Cosmetology program, and I am loving it! I am so excited to share my day-to-day life as I continue my “journey” at Hi-Point.
I will be blogging about the Cosmetology program, my classes, and things I am currently involved it. I also hope to express to others some wonderful opportunities Hi-Point has to offer along with great schooling.

Hey guys! My name is Shelby Shafer, and I’m a junior from West Liberty-Salem High School attending the Ohio Hi-Point  Information Technology lab.  I’ve recently been chosen to be added to the student bloggers and I’m SUPER STOKED! =) I can’t wait to share my day-to-day journey at OHP with the people of cyber space! lol.
I really enjoy being able to show people the true picture of Hi-Point and dispel all the rumors people hear. I’ll be blogging about my classes, activities, and just different aspects of my life here. Dang! It’s been awhile since I actually wrote something for you guys!  I can’t believe March is here, time is most certainly flying by, and I have plenty to keep me busy.  Usually all I have to say about Ohio Hi-Point is always positive.  But recently I’ve been asked “What don’t you like about Hi-Point?” And in all honesty, I had to sit and think about this for a while.
I’ve never thought about what I don’t like about Hi-Point, but what I love the most about it.  The only downfall to Hi-Point that I could seriously come up with was our Senior Projects.  When it comes close to the end of the year this is the one thing that will stress me out.  For the Honors English class we had to write a ten to twelve page paper, and have a presentation for professionals in our field by April.  The students pick a topic related to their field to write and do the presentation over.  I’m currently still working on my product for my presentation.
But other than that there isn’t anything that I can complain about OHP.  I love my academics, and especially my lab.

We all dream of being someone else, to ride a new wave, to be reborn, to start ALL over again. 2010 is my year of promise. I will see that it’s remarkable!   The year 2010 holds so much for me. I will graduate this year, I will turn 18, and I will begin college in 2010! This year, I have to actually grow up. I’m expected to go above and beyond, and it scares me to death. I just wanna be a little kid again!  But that’s not gonna happen, so I have to overcome my fear. Some of my goals for this year are to stay motivated and not be tardy. Because if you know me at all, you know it’s pretty difficult for me to be on time!

Hey Ya’ll! How have you been? I’m doing pretty good. Finally everything is starting to even out with my schoolwork, and I’m starting to catch up from my clinical experience last week. I want to start by telling you all about getting to go to Heartland and work last week for my clinical hours in lab. It was one of the most fun things I’ve ever done in my life. Finally getting to put everything we’ve learned in school into practice was a very rewarding feeling, because you realize that you can do it and you do have the ability to perform those skills in a real world experience. If we could, I would like to go to clinicals every week but I know we can’t and now it’s back to schoolwork and studying.

The thing I want to talk with you about today is why someone should choose to come to OHP. It’s a very simple question but one many people are afraid to face. The reasons why someone should come to Hi-Point far outweigh the reasons they shouldn’t. The first and biggest reason I think someone should attend Hi-Point is because of the experience they can acquire through their lab. When they graduate after two years they will have a skill that they will be able to use the rest of their lives and work with through college or whatever they choose to do. Aside from the skill you can get, some programs such as the Health Tech program offer college credits while still in high school, and I don’t know any reason why someone would pass up college credits while they are still in high school. One other reason I would say that someone should come to Hi-Point is the outstanding teachers. I can personally speak for Mrs. Purcell, Mrs. Donnelly, Mrs. Heitmeyer, Mrs. Sizemore, Mrs. Rofe, Mrs. Dearth and Mr. Lang and say that they are amazing teachers with all the ability, knowhow and desire to make you the most successful student you can be, and they are nothing but helpful with anything you need. So I would say that everyone should attend Hi-Point for many reasons because it can do nothing but benefit you.

My academic classes at OHP are pretty much the same as at my home school, Bellefontaine. Some are challenging and some are easy, but yet you know you’re still learning and achieving something.  My classes this year at OHP are: college math, which has a long story behind it. It’s one of my easier classes. I was supposed to be in calculus, but since only two morning lab students qualified for the class, we had to be dropped to the next math class. I also take U.S. government, anatomy & physiology, and CP English.  Hi-Point offers all college prep and honors classes that are offered in most home schools or even more.  I feel my academics are a challenge, but I know they will benefit me greatly later in life.
