Hard working students make preparations for future events

December 17th a special day for students who have went the extra mile to make an effort for achievement. The Culinary Arts lab students are preparing a catered party for a citizen in Logan County. This person has asked for certain items to be present at his dinner and Ohio Hi-Point’s very own Culinary Arts students have stepped up to the task. The students in Culinary have made six entrees including a fruit & vegetable tray, deviled eggs, bacon-wrapped water chestnuts, which looked absolutely delicious, and they have also cooked up some ramaki which is a food that originated in eastern Asia. It contains chicken, a slice of chestnut and wrapped in bacon. But it doesn’t end with the bacon.  Ramaki can be topped with being slathered in brown sugar. To top it off with a dessert made by the OHP students, they have prepared an Italian dessert known as a Canoli. So today has been a very busy day for the students in Culinary Arts here at Ohio Hi-Point.

The day does not end there, though. Seventeen students made up of both juniors and seniors will be attending a trip to Europe in the summer. These students are not just you average students either. The students that will be attending are some of OHP’s best, they showed excellent grades, devotion to helping the staff and the career center itself with the many fundraisers they participated in. The students saved up exactly, if not over, $2680 so that they may attend a trip from Columbus to Europe. The students, for their efforts, will receive a continental breakfast and dinner every day, all transportation, guided tours, sightseeing tours, travel insurance, and 24 hour EF tour guides. This trip is well-deserved by exceedingly qualified students who have gone above and beyond in their efforts to apply for this trip. Today, these students met together to again show the qualification needed to attend. They met together as a group to work on building team work experience. The students will be spending much time together and will need to learn about each other so that they may better get along. Even before the trip Ohio Hi-Point’s finest students are making preparations so that they may better represent the school.
So as a fellow student I would like to give thanks on behalf of OHP to the seventeen students who are some of the most excellent students that represent our career center as a whole, and also a thanks to the culinary students for preparing a special meal for a local judge, today has shown good representation upon our school with their excellent actions.

Excited to being going to Europe!

The Europe Trip through Ohio Hi-Point is where students get together, raise money and pay to go on a trip to Europe. It is our first year doing it, and I am excited to say I am one of the students participating in this wonderful opportunity.
This trip is being run by Mr. Raatz, one of our social studies teachers, Mrs. Blackburn, the Information Technology instructor, and Mrs. Dearth, a science teacher.
To go on the trip we had requirements such as good grades, our homework being in on time and now we are doing a Humanities course on Angel (an online service for our classes) that we have to complete before going. The course consists of learning all about the area (Italy and Germany) and even the language. The trip is scheduled in June and I’m so excited to be one of the students attending. It is an amazing thing and I’m excited that my last trip with the school is going to be so exciting.
I’m mostly excited to learn about a new culture and not just in a book, but to actually go and experience it. Everything there will be so much different from our life, but I know it is a great opportunity and I will learn so much from it. :)
