An update of what my life has consisted of since December!
Hello everyone! I know I haven’t blogged in over a month, and trust me, it feels good to be back on here! Well, what are some things that I can catch you up on? We had our exams about two weeks ago, so that was a very stressful time for me. It seemed like my brain was on overload the entire time! I’m glad to say that that week is over, and I have passed all of my exams therefore I passed the semester! Woo!!
The one exam that I was really stressing out about the most would be my lab exam. We took it over the whole week, and it was kind of scary! What we did for our cosmetology exam was have a mock state boards examination. We performed all of the tasks that we were expected to do at state boards, and everything was timed! There were also three different categories we tested in: Hair, nails, and skin. We performed all of the procedures on mannequins, and our nails on flour hands that we made!
After all was said and done, I got my grade and I was pretty impressed with myself! I knew that I had messed up on a couple of things, but now that I know what I messed up on, I’m pretty positive that when I do go to State Boards, I will be able to pass it with flying colors! Speaking of State Boards, hopefully, we will be going as soon as March!! That is, if my lab instructor can get our scores sent out in a timely manner. I can only hope that we actually doe go in March, that way I’ll be able to work in a salon while still in high school!
Now, for more of a current up-to-date update, right now we are learning about wigs in lab and all of the different wigs there are today. We are also going to learn how to size wigs for individuals! I’d like to say more, but that’s all that’s going on in lab! However, we will be having another cut-a-thon at the Ohio Hi-Point Career Center Salon!! This will be held on February 23rd, and will run from 8:30- 7 I believe. Don’t quote me on that though! When I upload my next blog, I will know for sure! You will be able to come to the salon and have any service that we offer whether it be a hair cut with a style, or manicure with a facial! We offer many services at low prices!! Okay, now i sound like a T.V. commercial!!! I hope that you all have a wonderful weekend, and next week I will let you all see what we’re doing out in the lab with a couple of pictures! Bye everyone!

What It Means To Me To Be An OHP Student
So I’ve been posting a lot lately but I kind of just wanted to talk a little bit about what it like for me to be an Ohio Hi-Point Student.
When I first got here my junior year I was kind of nervous. I mean I was just another home-schooled student who up until this point hadn’t set foot in any kind of public school building. I had already met with my lab teacher on multiple occasions and felt comfortable around her but I hadn’t met any of my academic teachers or for that matter any of the other students.
As the weeks went by I began to grow comfortable and made friends here. It was really cool, I got to spend time doing things I love and learned more about my future field. I had contests to go to because of BPA (Business Professionals of America) and my public speaking skills improved because of the things I was involved in here.
Ambassadors really helped bring me out of my shell because I had to go and talk to students other than my friends and help with fundraisers and all other manner of things that we do.
Towards the end of my Junior year I had the opportunity to get involved in the writing club and Bloggers. I took both chances and loved both. I was also able to stay actively involved in Center Stage Productions (homeschool drama club) and play basketball.
Hi-Point really means a lot to me because it helped bring me out of my shell and helped me choose a career. I was able to come here not knowing anything and then after talking with the teachers finding out what I wanted. Now here I am in my Senior year and I know that I want to go to college for Marketing and Graphic Design.
I suppose this really is a challenge to the Sophomores, I really encourage you to come to Ohio Hi-Point. You won’t regret it I promise. Remember school is what you make it. If you enjoy what your doing school is fun and the day goes by really fast. If you don’t like school the day just never seems to end. Here you have the opportunity to explore possible career paths and not have to pay a college to explore those options.
I really hope to see you out here at least considering OHP tomorrow at Taste Of The Future. Come talk to one of us bloggers we will tell you how much fun it is to be able to have this opportunity.
~ Until next time!

Skills USA Trip at the Hyatt Regency
The end of last week was fun and amazing at the Regional SkillsUSA trip. We had tons of fun getting to know people from all over Ohio. I was a voting delegate for Hi-Point and had to vote for our officers to be elected for regional office. It was time consuming and you had to really put yourself out there to be known and collect votes from other candidates. We had a certain amount of time that we had dedicated to talking to all of the other delegates and it was very interesting. After we campaigned for our officers, we had to listen to the speeches given by all of the other candidates. Afterwards, we had to go up to a room and vote for them. It was a little disappointing that none of our candidates got elected but it was a great experience for everyone.
We got to go eat at BD’s, and that place is amazing. We had to walk a couple of blocks to get to the restaurant but it was really fun, especially since we were in downtown Columbus and there was the Blue Jackets game about to start. There were a lot of people getting ready for that hockey game and they were all out around our hotel and the restaurant.
They also had a dance while we were there which was really cool because everyone was there. Unless they were wandering around the hotel. I was with some friends and we danced for a while and then we decided to go up to the room and get dressed to go to the pool. We got to have a lot of fun and we have many more trips just like this one to look forward to this year.
Come check in next week for a special blog that Micheal and I will be completing on ten secrets about Hi Point. There will be a lot of interesting things revealed. See ya next week.

Outside School
So I figured this posting I’d tell you all a little bit about my life outside school (Meaning my job haha!).
I work at Blue Jacket Dairy in Bellefontaine. As a part of my job I go out to farmer’s markets during the summer and beginning of the school year. This week I was assigned to the market in Worthington. (I’ve worked at this market before and really loved it.) Anyway this week was pretty much like any other week. I get there, set up, buy myself a cinnamon roll from Sassafras Bakery stand next to mine, and eventually start selling my cheeses.
One of the most popular cheeses we sell is Gretna Grilling Cheese. Its sooooooo amazing! Tastes just like a grilled cheese sandwich without the bread on it.
There is this one lady that comes every week and buys the Gretna. When she comes she smiles because I already have her cheese ready for her. It’s people like these that make my day. They just smile and tell me all about the fun things they cook. It’s always so much fun going to markets because you meet your ‘regulars’ and they always get the same basic things. I’ve met a lot of interesting people and gotten a whole ton of great tips for cooking! You never know what people do with cheese!
And with that I better go (:
Until next time!
