Hello everyone! This will indeed be my final blog! I realize that I have not blogged in quite some time, so I have a lot of things to share with you!

First things first, I was the class of 2012 Prom King for Hi-Point! I was very excited and very nervous at the same time! I didn’t know if I was going to get it or not, but I am glad that I did. It really was one of the happiest moments of my life! Me becoming prom king was the Hi-light of all of my years in school. I would just like to say thank you to everyone that voted for me, and thank you for everyone who was at prom because without any of you, it would not have been as memorable as it is!

Second, I passed my state board examination. YAAAAYYYY!!! Currently, I am looking for work in the Russells’ Point or Lakeview area. I am excited to finally be able to get a job in a salon and start building up my clientele! Also, I have been working at a tanning salon for about a month now and am very pleased with it. Can you say “two jobs in the near future?”  I am eager to graduate and have summer here already! Which, by the way, I only have 12 days until I graduate from my home school and 16 days until I convocate from Hi-Point!!!! Of course, it will be sad to have to say good bye to everyone but I will still be happy that I am done with school!

Right now to finish up the school year we are preparing to take our exams this week. I know, exciting right? After this week is over with, we will basically just relax and then the week after that we convocate! I’ve been waiting for this my entire life and I am happy that it is finally here. I am excited to move on in my life and be self reliant! Another fun little fact, I got a new car! FINALLY!!

I am sad that this will be my last blog, and I appreciate any one and every one that took the time to read any of my blogs. I say thank YOU! This was only the beginning of my journey, and I am looking forward to the rest of it! So, for the last time, this is Drew signing off. The end is almost here. Its almost time for all us seniors to move on. I know that I’ve been ready for this for 12 years now. I am ready too move on to Rhode State college where I am going to be majoring in manufacturing engineering. This is the time where you get on the highway in life and begin to set of to your distant goals and dreams. I plan on reaching mine in the close years to come.

Another part of graduating that I really look forward to is my graduation party. I have a little over 200 friends and family members coming to celebrate this accomplishment with me. I can’t wait to get the chance to sit down and open all the gifts. I do need to thank my mom because she has spent the whole year planning this party.

This is a great time and I have loved letting you guys in on my life here at Hi-Point.

Hey everyone!
So my blog will be covering something that the auto tech students did this Sunday. We went to Norwalk Summit Raceway for the High School Nationals! This was not a school related event but we went and did Drag racing! There were only a total of 6 students that attended from OHP and only three raced.
Nathan Richter and Tyler Stout raced the streetcar class. Nathan drives a 1999 Acura Integra and Tyler drove a 2002 Honda Civic SI. Nathan’s Integra ran consent 16.1 sec. Tyler ran a consent 17.3 sec in the Civic SI. The boys both did really well and made great times. Trevor Doughty ran his 1986 Shelby Mustang G.T. 5.0. His consent was a 14.7 sec.
For some background info on drag racing for the people that do not know how it works it is real simple. You run time trails to find what you can run the best and than when you go up to race you tell them what you think you can run the fastest. Than you go and race but if you beat your time you lose. So when Tyler went to go race he didn’t beat his time but the car that he went against, beat him to the finish line. And when Nathan went to race the same thing happened. Now when Trevor went to race he beat his opponent to the finish line but he also beat his time. So that made him loose. So none of the students got to go onto the next races but we all did get to watch the Jostens pill up cars. This is when you take a regular car and try to fit as many people into a car as you can. And we also got to watch race 2 and 3 and the Smokey burnout.
Our instructor also did some racing for the instructor’s race. He came to the finals in his little Toyota Echo. He did really well with a 18.3 sec. He did really good with his car and went to the finals but lost to the opposing car. The event was a great experience and look forward to coming back for more racing. I will be posting two videos of the cars racing so make sure you look at them. I really hope you guys like what you see!!

When you were in preschool, everyone continued to ask you, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” Although my answer most of the time was “a princess” now is the time in my life where I seriously have to figure out what I want to be. When you’re 5, nobody tells you that your senior year will be that year that you decide. At one point I thought I knew what I wanted to be. Now that I continue to think about that, I’m not sure anymore. Being half day at Ben Logan has given me an opportunity to take Teaching Assistant as a class. During this course I have been assisting a 2nd grade teacher. I have become close with all the kids and they hold a very special place in my heart. I just adore them and I love hearing all about them. (Of course, sometimes it’s more than I’d like because they filter very little.) Being in this class has made me consider becoming a teacher. I absolutely love the little light bulbs that go off as soon as they really understand something.  As much as they sometimes frustrate me, they make me happy more of the time. I feel like I am truly blessed to be able to spend my mornings with those little balls of sunshine. Sadly, now is the time where I seriously have to consider what I will do for the rest of my life and what I will enjoy when I am older… I have to figure this out by the time I start college because I don’t want to have to spend lots of money on something that I’m not going to do for the rest of my life. Fingers crossed for big decisions.

Just a quick blurb about what I plan on doing after high school. My goals for after graduation is working a full time job this summer and then attending Marion Technical College in the fall for Interactive Media.  Someday I hope to have a job creating and designing websites and possibly doing something with photography/promotional advertising. I will be commuting to college because they don’t have dorms but it will still be a fun experience for me.

Well my friends.. This is it! The end of the year has finally come… I am 3 weeks away from convocation and honestly I’m pretty excited. I never really

ever thought this day would come soon enough and now its so close. I can’t believe how time flies.. Just yesterday I was this kid here, a little 7 year old who’s only goal was to survive another school year and get to summer. Now here I am a high school graduate…

You see since I am home-schooled my graduation ceremony was early. So though I am graduated I still have to wait for convocation. This has been an excellent year and I am truly excited to see what lies ahead for me. I throw my hat to Ohio Hi-Point and all the staff that have helped me along the way. I would especially like to thank Ryan Gilbert, Peter Raatz, Benji Billman, Amanda Blackburn, Rene Mejia, Andrew Pinkerton, JoEtta Spain, Rebecca Oelker, Kelsey Giesler and my parents for helping in preparing me for my future.

Everyone always tells you that your senior year will the the fastest (and most expensive) year of your high school career. I can now promise you that they are completely true. This year feels like it may have just started. It is a depressing thought to feel like everything you have worked for the last 13 years, is given to you on a piece of paper. To think that when I walk across the stage at commencement, that may be the last time I see some of the people I have became friends with throughout the last 2 years. All I have to say, is Ohio Hi-Point was one of the best decisions that I could make for my future. The knowledge I have attained has pushed me to go further than I ever would have without it. My labmates are people I will never forget. When you are with someone for 2 years, everyday for hours on end, you learn a lot about those people. I could not have asked for more amazing classmates. There are such a wide variety of personalities, hobbies and jobs. We all fit together perfectly. Not saying we don’t have our moments… But we have grown to be a family.

There are some people that I owe a huge thank you to. Of course, my parents have been a huge contribution to my success. They have pushed me to achieve everything that I need to become who I am today. They have helped me through the good times and the bad and have always been the best support system I could ever ask for. I thank them for always having faith in me and for always being the strongest backbone I could have. My parents have never missed a single one of my events, performances or competitions. I respect them and I can only hope I will be as good of a parent when I grow up as they are now.

All of the staff at Benjamin Logan and Ohio Hi-Point have also supported me in my endeavor. Specifically, I would like to thank Kelsey Giesler. Ms. Giesler is the adviser for our bloggers. She is extremely patient and supportive. She is not just a good adviser, she is also easy to talk to. She is more like a guidance counselor, only not. She is fantastic and I can not thank her enough for the support and contribution that she has made towards my senior year. Thank you!!

Jamario, Drew, Alex and Tommie; I could not have asked for more of an amazing team to be a part of! You are all so fun and hilarious. The memories that we have encountered together is something I will never forget. Thank you all so much for all of the laughs, the pictures and the memories shared.

Last, but certainly not least, is Mr. Kouse. Mr. Kouse has been a terrific lab instructor, teaching me all there is to know about the world of electronics. With the addition of electronics, Mr. Kouse has taught me several life lessons as well. I highly respect him and would like to thank him for the lessons he has taught me over the last 2 years and the information he has graciously supplied me with. I appreciate him being involved with the last two years of my life and his dedication is very much appreciated.

Obviously, there are more people in my life that have influenced me in ways that are unspeakable. I appreciate all of the support, compliments and encouragement that everyone has given me up to this point. I am happy to say that I can look in the mirror and I am proud of the reflection I see. I don’t always agree with the actions that I seem to take, but if I had to do it all over again, Ohio Hi-Point would still have been my number one choice. Thank you is an understatement and words will never express the gratitude I feel towards all of these people. I challenge you to look around, whether you’re in school or out of school, to look back and reflect on all of the people who have been an influence on your life. Thank them. Because nobody can go through life alone. Everyone needs a friend. I thank all who are involved, were involved and look forward to all who will be involved with my success story.

Hey! Okay so this young gentleman is going on a trip that you want believe!! HE is going to meet..(Drum roll please)…. The President! I know it’s a pretty big deal and amazing so I got the insight of how he got this privilege. Mat is an outstanding student here at OHP and at his homeschool of Ben logan. He is more than excited to go and I wish his the best of luck. I’m sure he will do amazing and make everyone proud. GO MAT!
